A pack of tyrannosaurs[1] appear as brief antagonists of the series Primal for Season 1 of the first episode, "Spear and Fang".

Appearance[]

This group of tyrannosaurs all had thick builds, hunched postures, and large heads, and could be distinguished by their red color scheme, giving them a malevolent aura. These theropods were all dark red with a red underside and were covered in several layers of stripes, although each stripe pattern varied among them.

Each individual had a specific number of horns on its snout like that of ceratosaurus or alioramus, bright red eyes with bone protrusions above them, and rows of sharp teeth, while the back of the necks have small bumps running down.

Despite their similar appearances, one could distinguish members by these horns. For example, one had a single razor-sharp horn, another member had three dome-shaped horns, and the beta had two conjoined nasal horns.

The leader of the pack was significantly larger than the rest and possessed a chaffed horn.

History[]

The pack traveled together in search of prey, going wherever their leader took them. The subordinates discovered and ate Spear's mate, daughter and son. They only refrained from attacking Spear himself because their leader summoned them away before they could get the chance.

The pack later discovered Spear with Fang and her offspring. The pack chose to ignore Spear and instead attacked Fang, only to be surprised when Spear joined the fight. During the battle one individual, with two horns, had its snout bitten off by Fang. Another individual, with only a single horn, was impaled in the torso by Spear's spear. The fate of the third subordinate is not known. The third was last seen being smacked by Fang's tail and its corpse is not seen.

The leader soon discovered Fang's family as well. It ate Fang's young and attempted to kill Fang as well. However, it did not get the chance because Spear came to Fang's rescue. The leader then battled Spear and Fang, until it was eventually killed when Spear impaled its skull. ("Spear and Fang")

Trivia[]

  • Their appearances resemble of that of the Vastatosaurus Rexes from Peter Jackson's King Kong remake (2005), especially as they hunted in packs as a family and were larger than an actual tyrannosaur; as well as One Eye's from the 2012 Korean film, Speckles the Tarbosaurus (or The Dino King in some countries). Their colors resemble the mutant Giganotosaurus from the 2000 videogame Dino Crisis 2.
